…trying not to become a man of success, but rather a man of value. (Albert E.)
Inside your studera.nu account, you have the ability to track the status of your application alternatives.
While, in theory this seems like a nice idea, it only makes things more prone to problems and much more stressful.
You must be wondering what SG and MR means for each of your alternatives, but let us leave that for now.
When the admission process will start per say (after the delivery deadline is over), the Office will scan each application package and upload them to a database.
You will be assigned an Admission Officer from the first university that you have chosen. This is why, if you have specific questions, you should send your enquiry to that university’s admission office. This Admission Officer will also need to go through your application and needs to put his accept on it, before it will reach all the universities you applied to.
When your documents will be uploaded your general status is supposed to change to Under assessment (at the top of the page, under the Messages box).
Once they are also accepted by the Admission Officer, your status for each application alternative should change. The normal case scenario says that it will change from Not processed to Application in process.
In the time to come, that status may change back and forth. We have seen cases of the status being changed to Unqualified or back to Not processed without a good reason for it - documents were simply being scanned or checked. If you feel that something is wrong, just go on and write an E-mail to your first university of choice, or contact the National Admissions Office.
Contacting the National Admissions Office can be problematic. Messaging them through the online contact form them could end up with just a template answer, or if you phone them you could be put in a long queue, which is not so nice when you make an international call.
Don’t forget that there’s also VoIP technology like Skype, and if you have a good Internet connection you can easily stay in a 30 minutes phone queue without worrying about the call costs.
Be aware of the opening hours and of the timezone as well. Usually the Office is opened Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 4 PM (16:00).
Sweden has GTM+1 and follows Daylight Saving Time.
You may also notice that you have received messages. Due to system malfunctions, these messages might not be real messages, but just status changes. Therefore, if you notice a dot (bullet point) under an application alternative, and there is no text, most probably there was a change, either as a status change or just behind the scenes (internal action). So don’t worry about the fact that you cannot see the message itself.

mostly one that survives.
Often seeing the best in people;
surely one that dies trying.

May be im being a bit impatient, but does anybody have any idea, how MR works.. Some people say the higher it is, more are the chances for admission.
Also, can someone guess what is meant by “MAAU” (it shows in kth programs)

Hi!
First and foremost, thanks for the info! It seems like you know a great deal about this cryptic admission process, and lost souls like me truly appreciate you sharing your insight!
I have applied to KTH’s Engineering and Management of Information Systems master’s program, and of course I have been frantically checking studera.nu several times a day. Today there was finally some news in there - namely, I got a SG and an MR. My SG is “Master alternativt utval” and my MR is… 52. From what I gathered from what you’d written, the MR numbers are really not very telling, although it DOES worry me a lot that everyone is talking about numbers like 900 and mine is …. 52. That might have something to do with the fact that I’m from Armenia - a non-EU country with a non-credit educational system. However, of course I DO have a bachelor’s degree, all honors, in Applied Math and Computer Science, and I’m working as a Java web developer and all that.
Question - my having an MR does at least mean that I have all the necessary qualifications, I hope? I sent all my documents via DHL and, of course, I have no idea whether they have received them, or whether they have some problems with my 3rd-world high school transcript…
Also, do you maybe have some insight about the “alternativt utval” SG? Alternative choice, right? Does that mean that I’m in some kind of a waiting-list group of people who MIGHT get a place if lots of people decide NOT to choose the given program? Thoughts?
Any kind of input would be greatly appreciated… No doubt I’m totally and completely worried, especially since I applied to only one program..
Thanks a LOT!
Gaia

Sam: I got MAAU too… It’s “Master alternativt utval”.. meaning “Master alternativ choice”. Not sure what it means, but given my luck, I think it’s some kind of a semi-waitinglist thing…

@Gaia: So far, so good I would say. If you got an SG and MR, you are “in the game”.
Regarding MAAU, so far it is simply a selection group so far.
Discussions on this topic are supposed to take place on a Facebook page though.

Hi guys,
I have just got MR 29 and SG MAAU from KTH.
Actually I don not know whether my number is a good merit rating or not,but as Andrie said it is good enough to know “I am in the game”
Good Luck

This is my situation:
- MR: 999, that seems to mean that I’m good for them to make the master
- SG: DA, that in the Swedish site is “Direktantagning”… The translation in English is “direct admission”…
I’ m not sure of this!! Can everyone tell me what does it mean??? Am I admited?? I cannot belive it…

Jacopo, congratulations! That indeed means your application was so nice that they accepted you already (special case)
For the others, and for you Jacopo
— I’m going to tell you the exact same thing I wrote above:
And also, may I please remind you that discussions on this topic are supposed to take place on a Facebook page though.

I too, got some changes in the columns of SG and MR as MAAU and 32 respectively; for KTH…
..and after going through the long discussions (for almost over an hour) on several of these blog pages and facebook, iv decided not to give a little rat’s ass. The system is way to crappy and wierd for normal people to decipher.
I think the best option is to relax and wait for the 29th instead of going crazy trying to find meanings of these silly acronyms on studera!
Best of luck to all applicants. Godspeed
